One hundred schools 2000 climate champions Okyeame Kwame Acting In Time.

 Act In Time!

What happened?

Ghana's prolific Rapper, Okyeame Kwame, has begun a herculean task to visit 100 schools in Ghana to raise 2000 climate champions. The partnership with the Climate Clock, a Non-Profit Organization in Brazil, seeks to get the younger generation across the globe to Act In Time to help save or reduce the concomitant effects that come with unchecked activities directly impacting the climate.

Starting his tour at Kwabenya Senior High School, the Yeeko hitmaker, his team, and volunteers made a tumultuous entry into the school. Riding on the excitement in the auditorium, Okyeame Kwame, through beautiful performances, chipped in the primary purpose of their visit: climate change, global warming and raising Climate Champions.

What are people saying?

With the enthralling reception from the students, as seen in the videos, students of Kwabenya SHS were thrilled to have Okyeame Kwame and his beautiful family in the building. Their response to the campaign theme and catchphrases also showed that the students received the message intended for the day, and the various performance sets were just the icing on the cake they needed.

The Talkative:

Global warming has become one of the biggest threats to the planet, and in other parts of the world, stringent measures are taken to ensure that the terrible climate conditions are reduced or checked. Here in West Africa, we are the global warming itself! Every action and our primary way of life contributes in one way or the other in harming the climate and the planet in general. How we feed, transport, cloth, and roof ourselves have yet to conform to the new eco-friendly way of living.

However, better late than sorry. This campaign, albeit late, still has excellent prospects, and the target audience gives hope for the future. Children are the future and will become the decision-makers in their homes in some years. If they are taught a more eco-friendly way to go about their activities, it will significantly impact our climate situation in the future.

Also, Celebrity influence on the Ghanaian youth cannot be ruled out. If FDA believes that celebrity endorsement for certain products can lead children astray, then celebrities through redemption campaigns is also a way to go; it's all about influence and impact. Okyeame Kwame has a massive effect on Ghana's younger and older generations, irrespective of social status. His over two decades-spanning career has built a solid fanbase and influenced different eras of music users, who are all great target audiences for this campaign, depending on their audience segregation.

However, this campaign may not yield the most intended results without extensive and consistent education for multiple generations. Climate problems have been an existential challenge in West Africa, and only an extensive- long-term education can have the mental and behavioural impact and change this campaign seeks to achieve. Hopefully, we all get to Act In Time.
