Trade fair unveils ongoing works for the biggest convention center in Ghana!

 Trade Fair to the Rescue!

What happened?

The CEO of Ghana Trade Fair Company, Dr. Agnes Adu, hosted Ghanaian media to take a look at the ongoing work at the Trade Fair Center for the biggest Convention Center to be established in Ghana.

Taking the team through the site, Dr. Agnes Adu, explained the vision, purpose, and plan for the Convention Center. The ginormous 10,000 square meters project has a 30,000-standing capacity with a 4,000 square meter VIP space, a lobby/ exhibition hall, and a 5000 square meters multiple auditorium space. The project is a partnership with the government and private entities to build a multipurpose event facility with a hotel and adequate parking space as the center for all major events in Ghana.

With the groundwork for the structure, completed, Dr. Agnes Adu assures that the multipurpose event space should be ready for use by June 2025.

What are People saying?

Before the unveiling of the ongoing work, the Ghana Trade Fair has been in the news for demolishing one of the biggest prefab event centers on the property. While the reason for the demolishing was well understood, concerns were raised because of the inadequate event spaces in Ghana.

However, the establishment of this facility seems to solve that problem, offering multiple and bigger spaces for various events to be held at the same time.

Another major concern was how the change in government could impact the timelines of completion. Dr. Agnes Adu also assured Ghanaians that the deal with the government transcended any political party or the ruling government and the partnership would be unharmed irrespective of the party in power.

She then reemphasized how the trade fair was ready to partner with both foreign and local private investors to establish the center.

The Talkative:

While projects like this will have a major impact on the creative and tourism sector of Ghana when completed, the ongoing work at the convention center has also created jobs for Ghanaian contractors and workers. On-site, about 90% of the workers are Ghanaians working on the various aspects of the project. When completed, every aspect of the facility will greatly impact the economy of Ghana while solving the unemployment issues for some Ghanaians. From security to managers, cleaners, cooks, and designers.

Also in the creative entertainment center, an indoor facility of that magnitude helps solve two problems, space for events and unpredictable weather conditions during events. With a space like that organizers can house 30,000 fans with reduced ticket prices without worrying about potential rains delaying setups or disrupting events.

With regards to Maintenance and the sustainability of the center for a lasting use when completed, Dr. Agnes Adu reassures that despite the facility being close to the sea, the materials used are stainless bound to last the test of time, and the Trade Fair will also keep a close eye on the facilities, make necessary repairs if needed for longevity.

Trade fair holds great memories for some generations in Ghana, while most Gen Z and some millennials may have not seen the monument that the trade fair once was, this convention project will give current generations and generations to come something iconic!
